| No, no, I'm not putting a curse upon you all, I promise...
So instead of SBFSB the musical, we're doing Macbeth (the play) for our school production instead. I play one of the apparitions. :amuse: My friends who are also in the play are playing Lennox and Lady MacDuff. Our set looks pretty awesome, if I do say so myself. XD
Here's a question for you guys: Do you believe in the Macbeth curse, where if you're not doing Macbeth and you say the name, something bad will happen?
I do. Last year for Little Shop of Horrors, someone said it about two weeks prior to the show. A couple of days later, our director drilled a hole in his thumb as he was working on the set. O_o

| Ah, I love the play Macbeth! We read the screenplay in my British lit class in high school and I was amazed at how much more I enjoyed it than Hamlet. Not that I didn't enjoy Hamlet! D:
Hmm... I was never truly in the drama club in high school, even though I was in the stage crew. I do somewhat believe in the curse of Macbeth though, but that may have been the hard-core drama kids rubbing off on me. I mentioned that we were reading Macbeth in my British lit class, and my friend Dustin flipped out on me as well as five other people who had main roles in the play we were putting on. I learned real fast not to mention it during rehearsals, or even bring the book with me.
So...I guess it could be real, but then again it could just be superstition. And a horrible coincidence for your director.

| I actually just saw Macbeth at the Stratford Festival in Stratford Ontario, (With COLM FEORE as Macbeth! EEK!) And I enjoyed it very much. The version I saw was set in mid 20th century in Africa but it flowed very nicely, (much better than Julius Caesar, anyways.)
The actors who did the actors workshop told us that the curse exists, as one guy broke his rib while rehearsing...there was a emergancy rehearsal that day, and Colm Feore ran past my school group. And our one teacher was very, very happy.

| Gah! I love Macbeth! Seriously! I'm usually borderline when it comes to superstitions but this one is definately pretty hard core. While we were studying it in my english class we got a list-a massive list of all the accidents, illness, and even deaths that came with this play. Even still, I saw this play at...well, some college in toronto and it was awesome. I loved how they did the porter. Funniest thing I've seen in a long time. | |

| Well the porter is only a reference to the truth. The message Lies WITHIN his message According to SHAKESPEARES macbeth if anyone read the play you might notice this quote: "If i were porter of hell's gate", one shouold remember that in the previous scene Duncan was murdered. So the porter REALLY is hell's gate porter. This is only one exaple among many others which leaves an ironic effect on the reaer/viewer yet if heard through over and over one could realise these tactics used by our intelligent Shakespeare. Regarding accidents Macbeth is often known as the "unlucky play" A theater has infact been burmed Twice each time the play was performed. Yet today it is a wonderful piece of art and probably even one of Shakespeare's masterpieces. | |

| On one of our performing nights this girl got kicked in the gut hard. The next day there was a huge bruise that covered the entire right side of her stomach. Also, I lost my voice on the second and third nights. | |
