I love Opera! but more along the lines of just the music. I've only been to one Opera show and that was Phantom of the Opera. I loved it of course, very beautifully made.

I love theatre too! I wish I could see it more, but theatre by far is the best medium to watch.

Rocky Horror Show last year was amazing. It was surprising to say the very least haha. I would say more, but you guys should check it out next time the opportunity comes up.

I'm a HUGE theatre nerd. I've seen:

The Phantom of the Opera (5x)
CATS (4x)
Rent (3x)
Wicked (1x)
Mamma Mia! (2x)
Beauty and the Beast (1x)
Into the Woods (1x)
Jesus Christ Superstar (1x)
Sweeney Todd (1x)
Les Miserables (1x)
My Fair Lady (1x)
Chicago (1x)
The Lion King (1x)

And I'll be seeing POTO again this August :amuse:

I'm also a huge fan of Sarah Brightman, and have been to one of her concerts. The difference between a Sarah Brightman concert and a Britney Spears concert is VAST! LOL!

"The Phantom of the Opera" is not an Opera, despite it's name Wink There are some differences between an opera and musical theatre.

My favorite will probably always be "The Phantom of the Opera". It was my first live musical theatre experience :amuse:

The are lots of foregin musicals (aka Non-Egnlish) I like as well :amuse:

But I'm not actually that big on Opera. But I've always wanted to see "Faust".

Phantom may be my favorite musical, but I know it's not the best. Any theatre purist would tell you that; actually, a lot of them consider it their "gulity pleasure". ALW is repetitive a lot concerning the melodies in this piece.

But I don't consider myself a "purist". If I like something then I like it, and I don't care who knows it! Opera? yes, no , maybe so. 97450 A lot of it comes down to whether you think you'll like the story? does the music catch your ears? etc.

Sweeney Todd is currently playing in Palm Beach at Kravis Center for the Performing Arts. They'll be there May 13th - May 18th. Are you anywhere near there?

Now, this a tour of the recent Broadway revivel, so it's going to be A LOT different from the movie and even from the original stage production back in the 1980's. The costumes are more modern, and the cast members actually play the instruments on stage.

I never seen an opera but I would like to see one. It's nice to see some theatre otaku here that aren't me.

Faust! Wow, listen to Kamelot. They did two albums telling the story. I think there are some slight differences between the two stories, but I love those albums so much. Such a great story.

I've seen La Traviata at the Met. I want to see Mozart's Magic Flute one of these days. Others I eventually want to see would be Tosca as well. This my fave aria from Puccini's opera, Turando, sung by the incomparable Pavarotti (RIP):

Nessun Dorma
